Douche, both the object and the act of using it, has been around for a very long time. Once touted as the ‘best solution’ to ‘embarrassing vaginal odor’, it has recently come to light that the practice is not only harmful, but can actually increase the problem instead of solving it. Imagine it this way – you don’t brush your teeth and your breath stinks. What do you think would be a more healthy way to solve it – chewing on some sugary mints, or brushing your teeth properly? The mints may solve the problem in the short term, but the sugar you’re feeding that already smelly bacteria is only going to make your breath worse when it wears off.
