No-Nos for Naughty Bits

Spoon of whipped cream and a cherry

It’s a scene that has become famous in hot-and-heavy movie sex. The characters are about to strip down and get into it when one makes a dash for the fridge, grabbing a can of whipped cream, chocolate syrup, or other edible more commonly found on top of ice cream than people. Is it sexy? Sure. Unexpected? Definitely. Safe? Well…when done correctly it is.

How could whipped cream possibly have harmful effects, you may ask, beyond staining the sheets? Whipped cream, syrup, and other sweets contain sugar, of course. Applied on most of the body and licked off, you’ll have no other result than a whole hell of a lot of fun. Down near the vulva? Not so much. The inside of a woman’s body – the vagina – is self cleaning. That means the PH balance of the area is perfectly calibrated to keep her healthy and chemically balanced with no outside help. When you introduce sugar into a damp, dark, humid environment, you are giving bacteria – the bad kind – the perfect conditions to grow and flourish. This will lead to yeast infections, urinary tract infections, and other unpleasant outcomes that just aren’t worth a night of candy-coated passion.

How do you stop this from happening? Keep it clean by keeping edibles away from the vagina, and you’ll never have to worry that your sweet sex will turn into a sticky situation.
